Challenge

Amid shifting market conditions and internal development transitions, the client faced challenges in maintaining customer acquisition momentum. 

On the technology side, several areas required attention: 

  • Parts of the codebase needed to be aligned with a newer technology stack. 
  • Occasional system instability, deadlocks, and UI-related considerations were contributing to increased operational workload. 
  • The need for integration with new questionnaire engines. 
  • Quality assurance optimization. 
  • Manual regression testing was in place due to limited automation capacity at the time. 

With these factors in mind, our focus was to support the client in enhancing system stability and improving overall quality.

Solution

Symphony Solutions team took a comprehensive approach to modernizing the client’s legacy web portal for survey analysis, focusing on addressing the core issues that affected its performance and user experience. With a dedicated team of 10 skilled professionals, our goal was to transform this critical tool into a modern, efficient, and user-friendly platform.  

The following was done: 

  • Pain Point Identification: We initiated the process with a comprehensive evaluation of the existing system to uncover key areas impacting performance and user satisfaction. This involved a detailed review of the system architecture and codebase to identify opportunities for improvement and areas that would benefit from focused attention. 
  • Code Quality Improvement and Optimization: Our team introduced targeted enhancements to elevate code quality, resulting in a more stable, maintainable, and reliable platform. By optimizing key components of the codebase, we achieved substantial performance gains. 
  •  Additionally, certain SQL queries were streamlined to extract only a few kilobytes of data, down from hundreds of megabytes, significantly reducing processing time and resource usage. 
  • Design and User Experience Enhancements: Following improvements in system stability, we proposed design updates aimed at making the platform more intuitive and user-friendly. The goal was to streamline navigation and support a smoother user journey without introducing major visual overhauls. 

As the enhancements were implemented, the client received encouraging feedback from users and decided to continue developing the platform further. 

Results 

Originally considered for phase-out, the platform was instead given a renewed trajectory through focused modernization efforts. With improved stability, performance, and maintainability, it now meets expectations more in line with current industry standards. Encouraged by this progress, the client chose to continue its development.
