Amidst the challenges of attracting new clients in a competitive market and navigating economic constraints, our client recognized the imperative to refresh their digital presence. While Symphony Solutions team supported the modernization of their legacy web portal, we also collaborated on the development of a new data aggregation platform. This initiative aimed to unlock new business opportunities, empower growth, and position the client for future success in the market. 

Challenge

Our collaboration focused on addressing a set of technical priorities aimed at improving performance and ensuring smoother operations. The main efforts included: 

  • Developing a new web portal for the aggregation of marketing research data. 
  • Optimizing database queries and resolving deadlocks to improve system performance. 
  • Designing and implementing a robust backup system for all databases and infrastructure to ensure data security and seamless operational continuity.

Solution

To support the client’s goals, we assembled two dedicated teams to work on a new web portal designed for marketing specialists and consultants. Our contribution included:

  • Web Portal Development: We developed 70-80% of the web portal, addressing complex features such as integrations with SharePoint and Google Drive, as well as implementing various interactive dashboards. 
  • Azure Environment Integration: The entire solution was designed to seamlessly integrate within the client’s Azure environment, ensuring optimal compatibility and performance across the platform. 
  • Quality Assurance: Symphony Solutions team took full responsibility for the QC/QA processes, ensuring the web portal met high standards of reliability and effectiveness upon deployment. 
  • Database Administration: Our team provided DBA services, including deadlock analysis, SQL query optimization, and traffic management, ensuring that the database supporting the web portal was robust, fast, and efficient. 

Results 

Although the project experienced a slight delay in the initial phase, our team successfully delivered the MVP on schedule. The outcomes of our collaboration yielded several key benefits for the client: 

  • New Client Engagement: The launch of the new web portal sparked fresh engagements, demonstrating the enhanced capabilities and value of the platform. 
  • Improved Workflows: The updated portal helped simplify daily tasks for marketing specialists, contributing to more efficient data handling and analysis. 

In addition, the following service improvements were achieved: 

  • DevOps: The implementation of database backups strengthened data resilience and ensured seamless operational continuity. 
  • Automated Quality Assurance (AQA): The shift to automated regression testing reduced the time required for release decisions and user acceptance testing (UAT) from 4-6 days to just one. 
  • Database Administration (DBA): Focused efforts on database management led to the deadlocks reduction and faster report generation. Processing times for reports were cut from 5-8 hours to just 1 hour, with query execution times improving by 5-10 times. Additionally, data transfer volumes were reduced from 300MB to 40KB, enhancing performance and efficiency.
