It is the biggest race in the world watched by millions of people across the globe, many punters eager to bet on their favorite horses during the festival. At the same time, the challenge for the sportsbook site is to handle the peak load and thousands of concurrent transactions, to load fast and perform instantly.



Ladbrokes Coral Group of GVC Holdings is a UK iGaming giant and one of the oldest and largest betting and gambling companies in the world. The Grand National is a huge event for Ladbrokes Coral when betting operators experiences the year’s highest volume of logins and new registrations, concurrent users and transactions.


Ladbrokes Coral requested Symphony Solutions to improve front-end and back-end performance of sportsbook betting platform so it could handle annually increasing numbers on the most important sport betting days in the year.  


The process extended over a period of three months, in preparation for the biggest challenge – The Grand National 2019 – that would test the reliability and efficiency of the improved system: 

  • Symphony Solutions extended the existing team with dedicated performance test engineers. 
  • Separate team was formed to work on performance improvements. 
  • Regular performance tests for releases and additional focused test rounds were conducted before major sporting events. 
  • Performance optimizations were done on front end to decrease page load time and overall site speed. 
  • Scalable solution was implemented on AWS to distribute back-end load. 
  • Monitoring and alerting system was used to watch over system capacity and performance. 
  • Ladbrokes Coral continues to improve performance and deliver the best possible experience to its bettors.
